Editorial Policy & Standards
Effective Date: October 25, 2026
Bangladesh Travel Guide is an independent travel blog written and edited by an individual publisher. We are not connected to any government body or official tourism organisation. Our aim is to publish accurate, practical, and honest trip-planning information for international visitors to Bangladesh, without sensationalism and without commercial bias. This policy explains how we do that.
1. Sourcing and Verification
Our guides rely mainly on official and primary sources for facts about entry rules, transport, permits, health, and safety. These include:
- Bangladesh government portals and agencies, such as immigration authorities, district administrations, the Forest Department, Bangladesh Railway, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB);
- travel advice published by foreign ministries and diplomatic missions, such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the U.S. Department of State;
- public health bodies, including the World Health Organization (WHO); and
- UNESCO and other recognised institutions for heritage and conservation information.
Where official information is not available or is unclear, we may use reputable news reports, operator information, and published reference material, and we treat these as supporting sources rather than final authority. Many guides list their main sources and the date we last accessed them in the page details.
Our research includes checking multiple sources where possible, noting disagreements between them, and avoiding claims we cannot support. Where advice is based on common travel practice rather than a legal rule, we say so, so that suggestions are not mistaken for requirements.
2. Information That Changes
Visa rules, fees, schedules, permits, access restrictions, and security conditions can change quickly. For these topics we use cautious wording, avoid presenting figures we cannot verify as fixed, and direct readers to the official source to confirm current details. A date on a page shows when we last reviewed it, not that every detail is current on the day you read it. Please also read our Disclaimer.
3. How We Cover Risks and Restricted Areas
Travellers need honest information to make decisions. Where a destination or activity carries real risk, such as areas covered by government travel warnings or permit requirements, we state the risk plainly, cite the relevant official advice, and explain the practical consequences, including insurance and consular support. We do not downplay risks to make a destination look more attractive, and we do not exaggerate them for effect. We also suggest lower-risk alternatives where they exist.
4. Independence from Government and Official Bodies
Bangladesh Travel Guide is not owned, authorised, or endorsed by the Government of Bangladesh or any official body. We use official websites as sources, but our guides are our own editorial work, and we are not an official source of visa, permit, or legal information.
5. Writing Standards
We write for international visitors who are planning a trip. We aim for clear, specific, and practical content, with guides organised around the questions travellers actually ask, and with internal links to related pages so that information is not repeated unnecessarily. We avoid promotional language and unverifiable superlatives. Where we describe places that depend on tides, weather, or permits, we explain that conditions determine what is possible.
6. Corrections and Updates
Errors happen, and information goes out of date. When we identify an error, an outdated rule, or a broken link, or when a reader reports one, we review it and update the affected page as soon as we reasonably can, revising the relevant dates and sources. If a correction changes a safety-related point, we treat it as a priority. To report a problem, use our Contact page, include the page address and, where possible, a link to the official source.
